A Salute to: “My Old Golf Ball” |
|
This tiny little golf ball, so small and yet so hard, Comes in many colors and is measured by the yard!
I tee it up, hit it hard and tell it where to go; I see the flag, I know my goal, at its base a little hole!
Some flags are far and out of sight at the time; Others are near and I think I’ll do just fine!
The story of my round is shown in this ball; For I have to play it no matter where it falls!
If it lands in the rough or even in the woods, Danger lies in finding its way back to the good!
Water is always a problem, my ball sinks down; If I don’t find it soon, my ball will surely drown!
Too many sand traps lie in wait to catch my ball, I must be sure to hit it straight to avoid this pitfall!
In my golf game as in my life, many dangers await; I will lose my ball if I can not hit it straight!
If I can only learn to meditate, focus and concentrate, I just might master hits that are long and straight!
May I keep it out of the water, woods, rough and sand, Until I sink this ball into that little hole straight over the land!
My old golf ball now nicked and bruised, Proves it survived each time that it was used!
